Glo Premier League: Pillars, Wolves Continue Title Chase

The Top two teams in the Glo Premier League title run-in kept clean sheets at home on Thursday en route to a deserved wins as they continue to build on their title ambitions.
Leaders Kano Pillars beat Gombe United 2-0, while second-placed Wolves continue to impress with a comfortable 3-0 win over Lobi Stars.

The ‘Sai Masu Gida’ now has 56 points from a possible 99, a point ahead of Warri Wolves, with five rounds of league fixtures left for the 2013/14 season.
In the Pyramid City, goalkeeper Theophilus Afelokhai opened scoring from the spot on 26 minutes before Ubong Ekpai doubled the lead in the 50th minute from close range.

Abu Azeez scored a brace for Wolves- breaking the deadlock in the 52nd minute when he converted from 19-yards and then added the second in the 60th minute after a defensive blunder by Terka Melai and Moses Bunde.
Joseph Osadiaye complemented the Beach Eagles stars effort with a third goal 8 minutes later off a rebound from Gbolahan Salami’s shot.

Enyimba topped the clash of two title contenders with a 3-1 outcome over Nasarawa United to move third in the table with 51 points. The ‘Solid Miners’ dropped to sixth following the loss in Aba with 50 points.
On-form striker Mfom Udoh scored a brace to increase his goal tally for the season to 17- two ahead of Wolves’ Salami. Udoh scored the opener on 14 minutes from an Emeka Nwanna’s assist. He completed his brace in the 22nd minute.

Udoh then missed from the penalty spot after Chimenzie Amanfor was brought down in the box. Fresh from Super Eagles duty, Ighodalo Osaguona scored his 15th strike of the season as Enugu Rangers secured a 1-0 home win over Heartland. Ighodalo’s 38th minute strike separated both teams after 90 minutes of the Oriental Derby.
Lowly Nembe City thrashed fellow strugglers Kaduna United 4-0. Okiki Musampa headlined the clash of the two relegation strugglers with a hat-trick and Chinwe Ugwu also getting among the goals.
Sharks and Giwa FC were at a stalemate in Port Harcourt before Sharks opted not to continue the match seven minutes after the hour mark after the centre referee awarded a penalty to Giwa when Ocheme Udoh was allegedly brought down by a Sharks defender.
