South African prosecutors say they will appeal against the verdict and sentence of Oscar Pistorius, reports the Associated Press.
Pistorius was handed a 5-year jail sentence last week after being convicted of culpable homicide of his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp.
The AP reports that a spokesman for South Africa’s National Prosecuting Authority, Nathi Mncube, said they will proceed to file for an appeal in court.
Pistorius was cleared of murder charges but found guilty of culpable homicide. Prosecutors had called for a minimum 10-year in jail term.
