Manchester United will assess Daley Blind’s knee on Monday
after the midfielder was substituted injured while playing for the
Netherlands.
The 24-year-old lasted for only 20 minutes in his country’s 6-0 victory over Latvia in an Euro 2016 qualifier on Sunday.
Netherlands coach Guus Hiddink said: “It doesn’t look good. I think it’s his medial ligament. It could be a strain, but it could also be a tear.”
Blind said on Instagram: I’m proud of my 25 games for the Dutch national team, but I’m so gutted with my injury… I’ll stay positive and will come back stronger! Nevertheless a great win 6-0.”
United will face Arsenal on Saturday and Blind, who has made eight appearances for the Old Trafford club since his £13.8m transfer from Ajax last summer, is a major injury concern.
He is not the only Man United player to be injured during the international break, as goalkeeper David De Gea dislocated a finger during training session with Spain on Friday and Michael Carrick withdrew from England squad with a “minor” groin injury.
