Nigerians
will continue to groan under perpetual insecurity and Boko Haram
occupation if they fail to actively participate in the electoral process
by getting their permanent voters’ cards, presidential aspirant of the
All Progressives Congress (APC) General Muhammadu Buhari (retd) said
yesterday. The rally was organised to enlighten the electorate on the need to actively participate in the ongoing permanent voter’s cards and continuous voter registration exercise.
According to the presidential hopeful, it is only by doing this that Nigerians can vote out the administration that has made life unbearable for the citizenry, saying, “change is absolutely necessary”.
“The fundamental thing is the insecurity in the country; nothing can be done unless security is improved and definitely, the government has shown that it is incapable”, he said.
“When the military representative of the president lied about negotiations with the Boko Haram, the group denied it and is moving very fast, up to Ashaka, so Nigerians now find it difficult to trust the government”, he added.
Buhari said the present administration has absolutely lost credibility and must be shown the way out through the use of voters’ cards in the 2015 general election.
Dignitaries at the rally included House of Representatives Speaker Aminu Tambuwal, Governor Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers State, APC governorship aspirant in Kaduna State, Malam Nasir el-Rufai and APC NASS members among others.
