l City forward, Sone Aluko believes Wednesday’s 1-1 draw at Everton was an “important result”.
‘The Tigers’ halted a run off four consecutive Premier League defeats
and moved out of the relegation zone at Goodison Park, a result which
Aluko believes could signal a turning point for Steve Bruce’s side.
“It was an important result in terms of trying to turn our results around,” Aluko is quoted as saying on the club’s website.
“We weathered a storm during a couple of periods, but we are a strong, resilient team and we have confidence in ourselves to get results. That is what kept us in this league last season.”
Hull went behind courtesy of Romelu Lukaku’s first-half opener, but Aluko needed just six minutes to turn results around with an equaliser just before the hour- the Nigeria international’s first league goal since September 2013.
“When I found myself one-on-one (with Sylvain Distin) I just wanted to be positive and get a shot on target,” added Aluko.
“Thankfully it went in. Sometimes you only need one shot to score. We knew it would be a tough game and that we might not get many chances.
“We were happy with the result and 1-1 was probably fair in the end.”
Hull are at home to Everton FC on Saturday.
