The Department of State Services (DSS), said on Thursday, that it had invited ex-Niger Delta militant, Asari Dokubo, several times, over recent inflammatory statements credited to him. This is according to the spokeswoman of the DSS, Marilyn Ogar, who responded to questions at a news conference organised by the National Information Centre.

“First of all, whatever is the operational procedures that we take after we have issued out warnings, we do not make them public. And I want you to recollect that Asari Dokubo has been brought into the office – DSS, a couple of times.

“It is not in the position of the office to begin to tell you who has been brought in or who has not been brought in.
“We still stand by our words that whoever in any way would want to interfere or interrupt the peace that prevails, he or she would definitely be dealt with,” Ogar said.

Dokubo has had several statements regarded as inflammatory, credited to him, the latest being a threat to attack the investments of former Chief of Army Staff, Gen. Theophilus Danjuma (retd.), in the Niger Delta, following a call by the former defence chief for his arrest.

Danjuma had recently asked the Federal Government to, as a matter of urgency, arrest the Niger Delta ex-militants who threatened war in the country if Nigerians failed to re-elect Jonathan.
“You should arrest Dokubo-Asari, Tompolo, Boyloaf and other Niger Delta militants for making reckless statements, which in any way does not mean keeping Nigeria as one entity and creating war situation,” he said at the inauguration of Kwakwasiya City in Kano.
