There were explosions and multiple gunfire, Tuesday, at Okrika, home
town of First Lady Patience Jonathan today as the All Progressives
Congress (APC) held its governorship rally, Rivers State governor Rotimi
Amaechi, who was not at the scene told Reuters by telephone.
The blasts at the rally, which held at the playing ground of the
National School, at the island town, was witnessed by Daily Post
reporter, Victor Azubuike. According to him, about 20 minutes after the
explosions, scores of unknown gunmen invaded the venue through the
creeks in gunboats. They reportedly shot sporadically at the crowd, but
the number of casualties cannot be immediately confirmed.
“As at now that I am talking to you, Okrika is under siege,” Azubuike said.
