According to a report by Associated Press, the Independent National
Electoral Commission (INEC), has concluded to postpone the February 14
presidential and legislative elections.
The report stated that the postponement, which is for six weeks, is to give ample time for the multinational forces time to secure northeastern areas under the hold of Boko Haram.
Associated Press says it got its information from an official close to the electoral commission.
The official, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, is said to have disclosed that INEC would announce the postponement later on Saturday, February 7.
As at the time of filing this report, INEC is yet to confirm the development, nor refute it.
