Nigeria Player Omokashi Musa’s Experience Counted against South Africa

Nigeria caretaker coach Daniel Amokachi has lauded Ahmed Musa following his contribution in Sunday’s 1-1 draw with South Africa at the Mbombela stadium in Nelspruit.
The CSKA Moscow forward was handed the captain’s armband in absence of goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama, who was forced out of the squad due to a backache.

“He is the most capped player in the team, after Vincent left,” Amokachi said. “I definitely think he is a well deserved captain for the day capping it with a brilliant goal.”

Musa complimented his leadership role with a late opening strike, similar to his equaliser against Argentina in a 2014 World Cup group game. The winger cut in from the left flank and then curled past Itumeleng Khune from just outside the box.

“He is a good player, with all the experienced and world class player that he is. You can see the goal he scored was reminiscent to the one he scored against Argentina in the World Cup,” he continued. “It is brilliant.
“We needed that experience because we have a lot of young players and new players coming into the team and I’m sure he contributed in that way.”
Bongani Zungu however beat Godfrey Oboabona to goalkeeper Daniel Akpeyi’s rebound to poke in from close range as South Africa secured their fourth draw against Nigeria.
