 Yoruba movie veteran, Idowu Philips popularly known as Iya Rainbow has joined the growing number of thespians trying to the boundary of their creativity by singing.
She recently released a gospel track titled ‘Ore
Ofe’ from her forthcoming gospel album. The new single features popular
Fuji star, Wasiu Alabi a.k.a Pasuma Wonder who, according to the 72
year-old actress, also features prominently on the album. In a chat with
Daily Times, Iya Rainbow revealed: ‘I have a full gospel album recorded
and ready for release already.
The album was recorded with Wasiu Alabi Pasuma, and it talks about how God is a politician. I’ve decided not to disclose the name of the album for now; we’ll be releasing some hot singles off the album first before the launch proper.’ Iya Rainbow began her acting career in 1986 and is believed to have acted in over 500 Yoruba films since then. Among her first movies, Eru and Aje ni Iya Mi stand out but she made her big break in the film, Asiri Nla. |
