Former governor of Oyo State and governorship candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in this year’s general election, Otunba Adebayo Alao-Akala, has described the rumour that he planned to defect to the All Progressives Congress (APC) as a blatant lie.
He disclosed this in a statement issued by his Director of Public Affairs, Mr Oludare Ogunlana.
Alao-Akala stated that he could still play significant roles in the nation building without defecting to the APC, noting that “there is a need for collective effort to build our State and Nigeria together.

“Today, we are one Nigeria irrespective of our ideological and political lineage. Hence, I want to reaffirm my commitment to my party, Labour Party and also want people to disregard the rumour of my defection to APC‎.”
“As a former governor and leader of LP in the state, I will willingly offer advise on how to move the nation forward ‎if it is needed.
‎”The problem of unemployment, non-payment of workers’ salary; lack of fund and dwindling allocation from federal purse and so one require collective approach.”
Alao-Akala, however, urged Nigerians to be resolute and pray fervently for the progress of the country.
