Captain of Nigeria’s Flying Eagles, Musa Muhammed, has declared the team’s readiness to conquer the world in New Zealand at the FIFA U-20 World Cup scheduled to kick off on May 30.
The 18-year old midfielder that led Nigeria to her record fourth FIFA U-17 World Cup triumph two years ago in the United Arab Emirates and captained the current Flying Eagles squad to win the last Africa Youth Championship in Senegal, is among the 21-man squad named by Coach Manu Garba for the upcoming junior World.
The team, currently in Germany for final preparation for the tournament, scored 10 goals and conceded just two in two build-up matches so far; and Mohammed said he and his teammates are in killer mood to take on any opposition that comes their way in New Zealand.
“We are ready to take on the world,” he told SL10.ng.
“The friendly matches we have played have really helped us. Starting with the Super 6, and the games we have played here and I will say we now have a compact side.
“This is not about being boastful, but I believe we are ready to take on the world because we have had such a good preparation for the competition and we are ready to go,” he stated further.
The Flying Eagles will play their third and final friendly match against the U23’s of Freiburg today. The U20 World Cup will commence in two weeks.
