Enugu - Governor Sullivan Chime of Enugu State on Thursday inaugurated a multi-billion naira governor’s office for his successor, Chief Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi at Government House, Enugu.
Commissioning the edifice, Chime said it was constructed to ease the work and operations of the incoming administration.
He said the building would also create conducive environment for workers in government house for improved productivity.
"We want to build a permanent office for the incoming governor. We have looked at things and we felt it will be a lot cheaper and easier to build an office like this.
"Today, it pleased God to have us commission and use it as office of the governor. It is my prayer that this building will serve its purpose.
"The building has venues for different events unlike the old governors’ office and it is befitting for a governor," Chime said.
Some Enugu residents commended the Chime for constructing the building within a short period.
Igwe Lawrence Agubuzo, Enugu State Chairman of Traditional Rulers Council, said the building, which he described as "state of the art edifice", would promote the legacies of Chime’s administration.
The building was completed within five months to the end of Chimes' tenure.
