Following reports that broke out early this afternoon that the former Minister of Niger Delta, Elder Godsay Orubebe has defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to its opposition, APC, the PDP stalwart has come out to clear the air.
Elder Orubebe was alleged to have purportedly posted on his twitter handle @EderGOrubebe, “I have concluded plans to join my folks in the APC to champion and sustain the movement for a better Niger Delta in the new administration.”
According to a statement from the former minister, “News making the rounds and going virile in the internet and published by an online newspaper that Elder Godsday Orubebe, former Minister of Niger Delta Affairs has defected to the All Progressives Congress is not only mischievous but malicious and intended to tarnish the good image of Elder Orubebe.
“Elder Orubebe remains a staunch believer in the cause of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, and in the administration of President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan.
“He remains faithful to the PDP and will continue to remain there to form a strong opposition party to check every step taken by the incoming APC administration.
“Therefore, it is important to mention here that the internet is the handiwork of the APC’s propaganda machine which stock in trade is lies and outright falsehood.
“The general public should please discountenance this ill-intended story by band endemic liars.”
