T5 fat burners are powerful thermogenic fat burning pills. There are different brands of T5 pills and, although they once contained the same set of ingredients, they can now vary in both their ingredients and their effectiveness.
What are T5 fat burners?
Originally T5 fat burners were ECA stacks, meaning that they contained a combination of ephedra, caffeine and aspirin. Ephedra (or ephedrine) stimulates the metabolism causing an increase in fat burning. The role of caffeine is to boost the effect of the ephedrine. Aspirin enhances the effects even further by keeping the ephedrine in the system longer. The common T5 benefits are:
- Fat burning by speeding up the metabolism
- Appetite suppression helping with weight loss
- Increased energy levels providing more endurance for workouts
Nowadays T5 fat burners can have different ingredients mainly due to the fact that the FDA banned the sale of weight loss supplements containing ephedrine. Many T5 manufacturers simply replaced ephedrine with bitter orange extract (Citrus aurantium). Bitter orange is thought to be just as effective as ephedrine, but is not banned. However, although it is now widely used as a substitute for ephedra, there are questions over the safety of bitter orange due to its potentially harmful side effects particularly when used in high doses with stimulants such as caffeine.
What are the side effects of T5 fat burners?
Many T5 pills contain bitter orange which may have harmful side effects especially in people with existing heart conditions. These may include:- High blood pressure
- Heart problems (irregular heartbeat, heart attack)
- Drug interactions with other medications
Caffeine is a prominent ingredient in T5 fat burners and as it is a stimulant it can have some side effects associated with it. In high doses it can cause insomnia, restlessness and anxiety. You should avoid taking supplements containing caffeine too late in the day to avoid any sleep issues.
