A bomb has this afternoon gone off on the outskirts of Maiduguri around midday on Monday, a military source said.
A female suicide bomber attacked a military checkpoint at Njimtilo on the outskirts of Maiduguri, along Damaturu Road.
As at press time the number casualties remains unknown.
The incident comes few days after the government announced commercial flights would resume in Maiduguri, months after the local airport was closed over security concerns.
