ALGIERS- Foreign Ministry celebrated Thursday at its headquarters in Algiers, the National Day of Mujaheed coinciding with the double anniversary of the attack of North Constantine (1955) and the congress of Soummam (1956).
The ceremony was attended by Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Ramtane Lamamra, Minister for Maghreb Affairs, the African Union and the Arab League Abdelkader Messahel and ministry’s executives and Mujahideen, was marked by the lifting of the national emblem and the laying of a wreath of flowers in memory of the martyrs of the Revolution.
In a brief statement, mujaheed and former diplomat Rabah Mechehoud said that the date of 20 August 1955 referred to "great epic" led by leader martyr Zighoud Youssef, known for his "bravery and clear-slightness" which has been followed a year later by the Congress of Soummam (20 August 1956).
Former advisor to the presidency of the Republic announced that he would donate the house of his father martyr Ali Mechehoud in the sub-prefecture of Harrouch (Skikda), which had hosted the preparations for the attack of North Constantine and where martyr Zighoud Youssef had spent six months.
