ALGIERS-More than thirty-three thousand (33,000) liters of fuel and 480 kg of cannabis were seized Wednesday in the South and West of the country, the National Defence Ministry said Thursday in a statement.
"As part of border security and the fight against organized crime, elements of the national gendarmerie under the operational sector of Tamanrasset (6th military region) seized on 19 August 2015, a truck loaded of an important amount of fuel amounting to 23,600 liters for smuggling," said the source.
In this regard, at the 2nd military region, elements of Border Guards of Bab el-Assa and Sidi El Djilali under the operational sector of Tlemcen "have defeated smuggling attempts of 10,105 liters of fuel," the source noted.
In addition, a detachment under the operational area of Ouargla (4th military region), in coordination with elements of National Security, apprehended "a smuggler at the Sidi Khouiled sub-prefecture, and seized a truck loaded with 480 kilograms of kif Treaty and a sum of money of 27,800 DA and a cell phone, "the DND.
