Eagles to Train in Warri for Congo- NFF

Nigeria’s Super Eagles will train in Warri ahead of their 2015 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) qualifier against Congo in Point-Noire next month, the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has announced.
The African champions face the ‘Red Devils’ of Congo in a make-or-mar contest on November 15 in an artificial pitch.

The coach Amadu Shuaibu-tutored side will therefore use the artificial pitch of the Warri City Stadium to brace up for the Group A contest, General Secretary of the NFF, Musa Amadu, confirmed at a meeting with the Eagles technical crew and support staff in Abuja on Monday.
The team will be sheltered at Protea Hotel,Warri, till they leave for Congo on Thursday, Nov. 13.
“The pitch in Warri where the Super Eagles will train is an artificial pitch and should provide the required feel and match conditions as the pitch where the game will be played in Congo,”Amadu revealed.

“This is a very crucial game and we cannot afford to take anything for granted. “After the game in Congo,the team will then proceed to Uyo to prepare for the last qualifier against South Africa.

“The Nigeria Football Federation is working round the clock to ensuring that all the team needs to make a success of the November assignments are provided so that the Super Eagles are able to defend their title in Morocco.”

Nigeria need win their remaining two qualification matches to progress to the group stages of the Afcon finals.
Amadu added: “For us, the real challenge is to go to Congo and get the desired result that will put our qualification aspirations back on the right track.”

Meanwhile, the list of invited players for next month’s qualifying matches against Congo and South Africa will be released later this week.
