The Federal Government has assured the Nigerian security forces of
its commitment to upgrading military hardware and equipment to help them
fight security challenges and defend the territorial integrity of the
nation.
“Let me assure you of government’s commitment to the ongoing efforts
at upgrading equipment holding of the Nigerian Navy and other services
including their support facilities and welfare,” said Aliyu Gusau
Mohammed, the Minister of Defence, at the commissioning of the naval
headquarters new office extension in Abuja.
“The contributions of the Nigerian Navy in our fight against security challenges and its achievements in the fight against oil theft and other maritime crimes is noted. I urge the officers and ratings of the Nigerian Navy not to rest on their oars but remain patriotic, disciplined and committed to their professional calling,” the minister said.
According to the Chief of Naval Staff (CNS) Vice Admiral Usman Jubrin, the project was commenced due to the acute shortage of office accommodation at the headquarters when he was the chief of logistics.
The project is seen as part of the efforts of government to ensure commitment and patriotism in the execution of the officers’ responsibility to defend the country.
