The
Senate President, David Mark, on Tuesday, expressed shock and sadness
over the death of Oyamiefa, son of former governor of Bayelsa State,
Chief Diepreye Alamieyeseigha, who died in Dubai in rather unclear
circumstances.
He said it was painful that Oyamiefa’s young life was cut short by the cold hand of death in a foreign land, and urged the ex-governor “to bear this cross with a rekindled faith in God that we shall meet Oyamiefa at the feet of Jesus Christ on the last day”.
Mark, in a separate statement, also described the late prominent Nigerian administrator, educationist and elder statesman, Chief Tayo Akpata, who died at the age of 83 on Monday, as a nationalist, who lived for a viable and united Nigeria.
Mark in a condolence message to the family of Akpata, said the deceased was a fulfilled Nigerian, who devoted his life to the service of humanity.
