No Gov, Not Even A Councillor Is Leaving PDP For APC – Suswam

Governor Gabriel Suswam of Benue State has refuted a statement credited to his Kano State counterpart, Engr. Rabiu Kwankwaso that two more governors would leave the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, for the All Progressives Congress, APC.

Speaking to State House correspondents after a meeting with President Goodluck Jonathan on Tuesday, Suswam said Kwankwaso made the statement because the APC had realised that it lacked the capacity to face the PDP in an electoral contest.

Mr. Suswam said it was unfortunate that members of the APC had shown that they had no confidence in themselves.

“So, (APC) keep speculating that PDP is going to join them. That shows clearly that APC is not a party for Nigerians to go to. If I am sure of myself, I won’t be calling for additional troops from the enemy camp to come”, Mr. Suswam said.

He maintained that the statement credited to Kwankwaso was wishful thinking.
“We are going to defeat them roundly in all the elections. They are scared and so, they are trying to convince Nigerians the PDP is going to add to them. Nobody person from PDP, not even a councillor is going to join APC”, he said.

Speaking in the same vein, the Ondo State Governor, Segun Mimiko, who was also at the meeting, declared that, going by the handwriting on the wall, the APC would not retain Lagos and the other South West states it controlled after the 2015 elections.
Mimiko, who only recently returned to the PDP from the Labour Party (LP), said the ruling party was making incursion into the South West, starting with Ekiti and Ondo States, which he noted, are now firmly in the grip of PDP.

“I’m thinking now that with the configuration on the ground, apart from Osun that is already won by APC, I think it will be difficult for APC to hold on to any state in the South West”, Mr. Mimiko said.
