But El-Rufai, in a statement by his media office, said the incumbent PDP government in Kaduna State had confirmed both its incompetence and its inability to deal with issues.
The former FCT minister, therefore, challenged Governor Yero to showcase his achievements with the huge amount of allocations received from the federal government.
“Despite the claim that his administration spent money on training students abroad”, El-rufai said, “this government has nothing to show for the spending the people’s money, either in infrastructure or human capital”.
On poverty and unemployment, the former minister said data from the National Bureau of Statistics show that unemployment in Kaduna is well above the national average, and second in the poverty index among the seven states in the north-west zone.
“In addition, the state’s budget profile does not display a development orientation. For instance, the state’s capital to recurrent ratio has declined from 77%:23% to 55%:45%, reflecting a preference to spend for the pleasure and comfort of the ruling clique”, he said.
“Shall we also show Kaduna state’s poor performance in education as reflected in WASC and JAMB results? Contrary to the government’s claim that Kaduna came third overall in the 2014 WAEC Senior School Certificate Examination, the fact is that the state is ranked only tenth”, El-Rufai said.
