Police Begins Manhunt For Kidnappers Of Ribadu’s Brother

The Adamawa State police command on Monday said efforts were being made to ensure that Sani Ribadu, the younger brother of the pioneer chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Malam Nuhu Ribadu, is rescued from his abductors.

The State Police Public Relations Officer, Othman Abubakar, a deputy superintendent of police, who made this known in a chat with journalists in Yola, also pleaded with the general public to assist the security agencies with relevant information that would lead to the arrest of the kidnappers.

DSP Othman said the abduction was carried out by three gunmen around 6:30p.m, Sunday.

“The three gunmen accosted the former chairman to his farm along Yola-Fufore road and asked him, alongside 12 of his workers, to lie down”, Mr. Othoman said. “But four out of the workers managed to flee the scene leaving Ribadu and eight workers”.

According to him, the gunmen had initially bundled Mr. Ribadu, a former chairman of Yola South LGA, into his Toyota Tundra but suddenly changed their minds. The gunmen transferred him to a white Toyota Starlet instead and escaped through the route leading to Mayo Belwa Local Government.

The police spokesperson said surveillance had intensified around the area where the crime took place even though they were yet to make any arrest.
