Arsenal romped to a an emphatic win over struggling Aston Villa to climb up to fifth above Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League table on Sunday.
Olivier Giroud put the Gunners in front within 8 minutes of kickoff, when he collected Ozil’s a clever flick and poked in.

Arsenal could have been 2-0 up at the break after a dominant first-half performance, but a Santi Carzola left-foot strike came off the woodwork.

The hosts were celebrating a second goal when Ozil coolly slotted into the far corner from Giruod’s crossfield pass. Theo Walcott, on his first league start in 13 months, combined with Carzola to place the ball beyond goalkeeper Brad Guzan.

Giroud hit the bar with a header before Cazorla converted from the penalty spot after Chuba Akpom was impeded by Guzan in the area.

Hector Bellerin completed the rout in injury time, slotting home from range after teeing up with Carzola on the edge of the area.

Southampton 0-1 Swansea
Jonjo Shelvey’s superb long distance strike helped Swansea secure three points at Southampton.

Shelvey struck the post in the 59th minute after a surging move, but later slammed home from 25 yards from substitute Modou Barrow’s pass.

The Saints ended the match with ten men as Ryan Bertrand saw red for a foul on Barrow.
The win was the Welsh outfit’s first at Southampton in 62 years, enough to guide them up the table by one place to night. Ronald Koeman’s men missed out on a chance to displace Manchester united in third place.
