Nigeria Under-20 internationals twice came back from trailing their Under-23 counterparts to finish the 2015 Glo Premier League Super 4 tournament with a flourish.
The Flying Eagles trailed 2-1 at half time through an Oghenekaro Etebo spot kick after Peter Onyekachi equalised Taiwo Awoniyi’s opener.
Bernard Bulbwa brought the game back on level terms in the 54th minute but Etebo restored U-23 team’s lead six minutes after the hour mark.
Chidera Ezeh headed home an equaliser in the 74th minute to help secure the Eagles’s unbeaten run.
Having recorded maximum points from all four of their previous matches, fatigue appeared to have crept into coach Garba’s team and they were pegged back in their own half in the opening 15 minutes of play in front of empty Abuja National Stadium.
Prince Aggreh placed Eagles ahead on 28 minutes after a nice build-up, with Awoniyi slipping a pass through to the former Dolphins winger, who made no mistake from range.
Onyekachi drew Olympic team level four minutes later, slotting a Godwin Saviour pass past Eagles goalkeeper Joshua Enaholo.
Etebo scored from the penalty spot to place the U-23 team in ascendancy as a sliding Bello Zaharadeen was adjudged to have handled a Saviour lofted ball in the box.
Bulbwa restored parity after the break with a half-volley, which went in off Etebo’s head before.
Etebo completed his brace to keep Eagles in need of another leveler, and it eventually came courtesy of a moment of brilliance by Ezeh.
The FC Porto attacking midfielder stole behind his marker to meet skipper Mohammed’s cross and thump home from close range.
