The
Commissioner of Police, Borno State, has disclosed that it discovered
undetonated bombs, in the residence of the state Director of the
National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), while 147 clusters of bombs were
also recovered in Auno Village in Konduga Local Government Area of the
state, according to reports by TheStreetJournal.
Speaking in
Maiduguri, the State’s Commissioner of Police, Mr. Clement Adoda,
explained that the 147 clusters of bombs were discovered at a location
of about 27 kilometres from the state capital, Maiduguri.
In
response to the undetonated bomb found in the quarters of the NYSC
Director, Adoda said that the state bomb disposal team recovered the
unexploded ordinance, adding that it was believed that it was part of
bombs launched during one of the Boko Haram attacks on Maiduguri in one
of the Boys’ Quarters at the residence of the state Director of the
National Youth Service Corps along Damboa Road, Maiduguri.
The
State’s CP said: “The explosives were detonated safely without damages
to lives and property. The discovery of this ordinance would not have
been possible to achieve, if not for members of the public. They were
quick in giving information to security agencies.
“We implore
members of the public to always call on security agencies whenever items
suspected to be Improved Explosive Devices were sighted in their
domains. This is the only way to avert further wanton destruction to
lives and property in the state.”
