Excerpt:
What are you currently working on?
I am currently working on an Mnet TV series entitled, Hotel Majestic. I am also working on a new song which I won’t disclose for now.
When did you start your acting and music professionally?
Acting and music have been part of me since age 12. But for the records, I started acting professionally 10 years ago and I am five years old in the music industry.
What are your challenges as an up-and-coming artiste?
From the movie aspect it has been tough. Producers and marketers prefer recycling old actors so there are few opportunities for younger actors and actresses. From the music point of view, it is basically finance because most record labels are not ready to sign up artistes so the artiste produces the song, promotes it, packages himself, shoots his video and sources for interviews and shows to perform. All these require huge amount of money; it is really not a one-man-show.
Which artistes have influenced your career?
Basically, no artiste has influenced me. Music chose me from day one and so I created my own style. Although, I have some artistes whose journey in the music world has encouraged me. I am talking about artistes like Dagrin, Timaya, Flavour, Wizkid, Oritsefemi, Olamide, and Patoranking.
Describe your style of music?
I started out rapping in English but at a point I thought of distinguishing myself so I decided to go local with my language. I then produced the first ever complete Igbo rap song in Nigeria, and currently, I do what I call yoribo, a fusion of Igbo and Yoruba by one artiste; no one has attempted that.
Tell us about your newly released single?
I am already getting air play and rocking various shows. People see me and identify my style. My new single, Elenu Ni Be, produced by Da Suspect, is a nice song. It depicts street love and real hustle.
Where will you be in the next five years?
I have already told God where I want to be in the next five years and I am focussed and strongly working towards that. But in summary, I am going to be well celebrated around the world, enjoying success from the music and movie industry. And I would also be working with international acts.
How do you cope with friends and family who never believed in your dreams?
The worst enemy is the enemy within. As for friends, they are always jealous when they see you doing better than them. But for my family, at first it was really difficult for them to believe in my choice of career but with time, they began to see reason and had to support me especially my mum; she has been with me all through this journey.
Who is your celebrity crush?
My celebrity crush is Omotola Jalade- Ekeinde popularly known as Omosexy. Too bad she has been taken. She is a woman of substance, very beautiful, industrious and her figure drives me crazy! I once had a crush on Muna, the female rapper. She is beautiful and wild; I kind of like her swag.
Which artistes do you desire to feature in your songs and why?
I have a long list but to mention a few there are Tuface, P-Square, Don Jazzy, MI, Phyno, Wizkid, and Olamide. All these artistes are game changers. I desire to work with them because they have made a lasting mark in the music industry.
