The Nigerian Army has recommended 350 suspected Boko
Haram terrorists for trial at a Federal High Court for terrorist related
activities.
At a press briefing today, the Nigerian Army Chief of
Administration, Adamu Abubakar said the 350 suspects are a fraction of
504 persons held over terrorist related activity in the North-Eastern
part of Nigeria.
He also said the military has the constitutional
rights to protect Nigerians and cannot engage in mass killings as
portrayed by Amnesty International in its June 3 report. However, the
military has also requested that Amnesty International provide one of
its members to join an investigation panel to look into the report of
their allegations against the Nigerian military but the request was
never honoured.
