Man sets 8-year-old girl ablaze over witchcraft

A 60-year-old man in Barakin- Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State has been arrested for setting an eight-year-old girl ablaze on suspicion of being a witch and for being behind series of incidents within the locality.on Tuesday at about 10:34 a.m. when most people had gone to their various places of work.
The suspect, identified as Yakubu Vong, was said to have asked the girl to a house where he doused her with petrol and set her ablaze.
It was gathered that the man, after setting the girl ablaze, locked the room in the building. The cry of the girl attracted passers bye who forced the door open and rushed her to a hospital. She was said to have died before reaching the hospital.
The Police Public Relations officer, Plateau State command, Emmanuel Abu, who confirmed the incident, said the man had been arrested and investigations into the matter had commenced.
