President Barack Obama is expected to arrive in Ethiopia later today. The official schedule for the president includes meetings with Ethiopian and regional leaders on bilateral and multilateral issues.
On Monday July 27, 2015, the President will take part in a bilateral programme with the Government of Ethiopia, including an arrival ceremony, bilateral meetings with President Mulatu Teshome and Prime Minister Hailemariam Desalegn.
Later that day, President Obama will take part in a press conference with the Ethiopian Prime Minister and will be invited to a state dinner.
The President will take part in a summit with a handful of regional leaders on shared priorities, particularly the crisis in South Sudan and regional counter-terrorism issues.
On Tuesday, the President will participate in a civil society roundtable, and he will speak before the African Union.
On the same day, President Obama will hold a bilateral meeting with the Chairperson of the African Union Commission, Dr Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma, and he will have the opportunity to highlight sustainable development initiatives, including those in food security, as well as the work the US is doing to deepen economic and trade cooperation with Ethiopia and the region.
