Federal High Court Sacks Benue PDP Lawmaker

A member of the Benue State House of Assembly, Mr. Mathew Ire, of the Peoples Democratic Party, representing Oju 2 State Constituency, has been sacked by a Federal High Court sitting in Makurdi today.


The Presiding Judge, Justice Binta Nyako, today ruled that the PDP lawmaker had illegally substituted the name of the genuine winner of the primaries for his.

Mr. Agi Adigwu, despite winning the primaries was replaced by Mr. Matthew Ire by the Benue state chapter of the Peoples democratic Party. Mr. Matthew Ire went on to win the election.

The Presiding Judge in her ruling declared that the Independent National Electoral Commission withdraw Certificate of return issued to Mr. Matthew Ire and be presented to Mr. Agi Adigwu instead.
