Dissident army General David Sejusa’s political organisation, Free Uganda (FU), has warned that the internal power struggles inside NRM and State House could spark a “cataclysmic political implosion of epic proportions,” Chimp Corps report.

FU Press Secretary, Dr Vincent Magombe on Monday described President Museveni’s government as a “limping regime,” adding, “An emboldened population that is fast becoming enlightened and empowered cannot fail to capture power from a shambolic and terminally wounded presidency.”
Sejusa’s party was formed while he was in exile in London, UK where he had fled after leaking his own letter in which asked security chiefs to probe reports that government and army officials opposed to Museveni’s succession plan were being targeted for elimination.

Magombe’s remarks come against the backdrop of the sacking of presidential press secretary Tamale Mirundi following an internal fight in State House.Government dismissed the allegations as “alarmist.”
The comments also come at a time when former Prime Minister Amama Mbabazi is mounting pressure on president Museveni to relinquish power.
Magombe said “it is no longer a secret – Museveni’s hold onto power is in total jeopardy.”
However, addressing thousands of people who turned up at a rally in Alebtong district last week, Museveni said “there is proof of peace, a strong army and a government that is democratic.”
But Magombe said, “The raging war inside Mr Museveni’s government and State House, as well as the rapidly deteriorating state of affairs in the ruling NRM party, are vital signs and indications of the fast approaching end of a long journey of misrule and bad governance in Uganda.”
He predicted that the “coming months are going to be decisive in the struggle for a New Uganda,” adding, “It is no longer a secret – Museveni’s hold onto power is in total jeopardy.”
“The coming months are, most certainly, going to be the crunch-time in the massive, all-round, efforts to dismantle the Museveni regime. Ugandan patriots, both within and outside of the NRM party are already ceasing on Museveni’s wide-ranging weaknesses to dismantle the regime.”
On his part, Museveni maintains the country is on a steady path to economic prosperity.
“The NRM, over the last 29 years, has laid a basis for the metamorphosis of the economy and society of Uganda from a Third World one to a First World one in the coming years, the various obstacles notwithstanding,” said Museveni in his budget speech this year.
He said the NRM has addressed the issue of the human resource development ─ education and health not to mention building roads connecting the country to her neighbors.
