Pierre Nkurunziza Wins Third Term Bid In Burundi

Incumbent President, Pierre Nkurunziza, has won a third term bid, running virtually unopposed for the Presidency as most of the opposition boycotted the elections.

The election victory comes after months of uncertainty in Burundi following an attempted coup and President Pierre’s insistence on an unconstitutional third term bid.

President Pierre Nkurunziza won 69.41% of votes in the first round of elections, preventing a run off.
