The Yoruba Youth Congress (YYC) has cautioned Yoruba Obas to desist from partisan politics and always strive for the development of Yoruba nations.
The national President of the group, Prince Dapo Adepoju who spoke with journalists in Akure, Ondo State capital advised the monarchs to learn from their past mistakes and desist from trading Yoruba interest for their personal gains.
He decried the role played by the monarch during the last Presidential election where some of the monarchs compromised the interest of Yoruba people for monetary gains.
As custodians of culture and traditions, Prince Adepoju said the monarchs should be neutral and abstain from any act that can mar their reputations.
Prince Adepoju who said he has met with the Vice President , Yemi Osibanjo on the need to propagate the interest of the Youth , appealed to President Muhammadu Buhari to make Youth empowerment program the priority of his administration.
He expressed YYC support for the anti -corruption crusade of President Buhari, which according to him, is the only antidote for the eradication of the menace.
He therefore called on Nigeria and the International Community to support the President Buhari led administration to recover the looted funds of that nature by previous administrations.
“The Yoruba Youths are solidly behind federal government in its bid to recover the looted fund. The delegates of YYC have met with the Vice President on the need for the Federal government to make Youth empowerment its priority and we are hopeful our suggestions and ideals will be considered for possible implementation” Prince Dapo said.
