FCTA warns BDCs against hawking dollars on the street

The FCT Permanent Secretary, John Obinna Chukwu, has warned the Bureau de Change operators in and around Wuse Zone 4, Abuja to desist forthwith or face the full wrath of the law.
The Permanent Secretary gave this warning on Wednesday during an emergency inspection tour of areas used by the Association of Bureau de Change of Nigeria (ABCON) and Black Market Operators under the aegis of Zone Four Traders Association.

Chukwu stressed that the Federal Capital City has been well planned and designed with a Master Plan and that the laws of the land must be respected to make Abuja clean and safe.
He admonished the operators that there are rules and regulations lay down by the Central Bank of Nigeria in doing such business and insisted “it’s illegal to hawk money on the streets”.
Chukwu advised the traders to acquire offices/shops for easy identification by their prospective customers in order not to allow criminals and hoodlums take advantage; noting, “it’s the standard all over the world”.
