‘I still sell meat with my mother when I go home, working to get her a better shop' - Zayo

Abd Sobur Raheem a.k.a Zayo, who is becoming one of the fastest rising artiste with his distinctive sound, style and lyrics in a recent interview opened up on why he is working harder than his peers. Having dropped 3 singles Basia, Coloured and Ewomo with 3 videos within the space of 5 months, the Koga Entertainment act revealed he used to sell sun dried meat popularly known as ‘Kundi’ in Ibadan with his mother in order to fend for his family.

This he said was a result of the misfortune that fell upon his father who was a senior civil servant in Oyo state. He explained that his father was attacked by robbers who went away with some of the money and valuables of the state hence leading to his premature/early retrenchment.

All these have sharpened his street skills but he is determined not to relent on his course to be successful through his talent and legitimate means. The bundle of talent who still under Koga Entertainment record label dropped another beautiful song ‘Anything’ some months ago furthermore said that asides from his passion for music, another motivating factor is when he remembers how he and his family were fending before he got signed. This thought alone he said gives him more drive as he still wants to get a befitting shop for his mother to sell even if she is still bent on continuing with the ‘Kundi” business.

Contrary to the thought that he would forget and not want to be seen around the meat market, he said he still joins his mother in selling meat when he goes to Ibadan to Visit as his mother would always tell him ‘Remember the son of whom you are’ and this meat sales was what his mother used to keep the family together. Taking to his instagram page Zayo appreciated his mom, his record label Koga Entertainment, his label mate and people who believed in him.

He concluded by saying ‘I miss but don’t want to go back to selling meat; instead I want to be successful and get my mother and family a befitting lifestyle’. This he said he can achieve when the industry opens up for him to properly penetrate and market his music which he believes his meat selling skills would come in handy.

So guys lets support this budding talent and make his dreams come through
