Lionel Messi didn’t look his serene self in a friendly with Roma tonight.
The diminutive maestro threw an outrageous head-butt at former Newcastle defender Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa, before putting him in a rather aggressive choke hold, after a seemingly innocuous challenge.
Whatever Yanga-Mbiwa said or did, it seemed to wake Messi up, as he soon smashed the opening goal into the bottom corner in his typical world-class fashion just moments later.
Messi is probably one of the only players in world football who can aim a head-butt at someone, choke the same player, get booked and then score a worldy in under three minutes.
Aside from the new crazy temper, he looked as fresh and raring to go as ever. It was as if that disastrous Copa America in Chile never happened.
But what’s with all this wild behaviour, Leo?
Could all of this be the influence of a certain Mr Suarez? Who knows.
