State of emergency in three states of NigeriaA youth vigilante group in Lahou village of Borno State on Wednesday killed 17 persons alleged to be members of the terrorist group, Boko Haram.
PUNCH reports that the leader of the youth vigilance group in the council identified as Apagu Bitrus disclosed that the suspected members of the sect attacked the village at about 4pm on Wednesday but were overpowered.

Lahou is close to Ngulde in Askira-Uba Local Government Area, which is about 70 kilometres to Biu, the commercial centre of the south of Borno State.
Apagu said, “We slew 17 militants on Wednesday evening when they invaded Lahou village and equally seized two vehicles from them.
He stated that the assailants were teenagers, believed to be between the age of 12 to 17.
“I can confidently tell you that when we took the battle to them, some of them fled but we are going to bury those who were killed this morning, Thursday
Apagu however expressed grief over the death of a member of the vigilance group, who was a former councilor in the local government. He was killed during the attack.
