Busia. Police in Busia District have arrested six Somali nationals on allegation of entering the country illegally.
Police intercepted the Somali nationals, all women, on Monday trying to get into Uganda on motorcycles through ungazzated entry points without clearance from the immigration department.
Mr Micheal Odongo, the Bukedi region police spokesperson, confirmed the development.
Mr Odongo said the suspects are currently detained at Busia Central Police Station and would appear before court to answer charges of illegal entry.

Porous borders
He said although security has been beefed up at official border points, some foreigners try to use panyas (short cuts) to enter the country.
Mr Odongo, however, said they cannot know the motive of the suspects until investigations are over.
“We fear that this might be related to the terror threats from al-Shabaab but we cannot confirm until investigations are over,” Mr Odongo, said.
Mr Odongo told residents at the border to be vigilant and report any suspicious people and not to leave everything to police and other security agencies.
In May, security officials in Nebbi District arrested 17 suspected illegal immigrants in a joint operation mounted on the Pakwach-Karuma-Kampala highway.
The operation was conducted at Pateng in Alwi Sub-county by immigration and police officers. The suspects were arrested from different buses they were travelling on.
