ALGIERS - Algeria calls "credible and realistic" the announcement by Special Envoy of UN Secretary General for Libya of the formation of a government in this country, said Saturday the Foreign Ministry's Spokesman Abdelaziz Benali Cherif.
The spokesman said in a statement to APS, added that "Algeria has always worked for peaceful solution to the Libyan conflict through the formation of a Government of National Unity, capable of taking up the numerous challenges facing this country."
"Algeria also invites all the Libyan parties to examine this proposal as well as the recommendations and the UN Security Council resolutions, with carefulness, wisdom and responsibility so to privilege a rapid political solution to the crisis and preserve the vital interests of this neighbouring country to put Libya on the track of reconciliation and peace."
"The Libyan parties are urged to seize this historical opportunity by accepting the compromises to save their country from the threats," he stressed.
The Foreign Ministry spokesman underlined that "Algeria considers that the lingering of the current situation can favour the expansion of terrorism and represent serious threats not only for Libya but also for all the neighbouring countries."
"While reiterating its full readiness to support the Libyan people, Algeria commits to accompany the new government through a peaceful transition," concluded Benali.
