The 20-year-old has been with the West London club since 2007 and his father Mark has been at Chelsea as a goalkeeping coach since 2001.
Towards the back end of last season, Beeney was on the bench a few times during the title run-in and he regularly trains with the first team.
Beeney is unlikely to get too much game time with Thibaut Courtois around.
Now, though, he’s been sent out on loan – which has been confirmed by the club’s website – to try and get some game time with League Two side Newport, who have just appointed Warren Feeney as their new boss.
He will only go there for a month but it’s feasible to imagine that should he play regularly, Chelsea will allow him to stay in order to get half a season of league football under his belt.
Chelsea currently have two of the best goalkeepers in the league in Thibaut Courtois and Asmir Begovic so, despite the fact that Beeney is a FA Youth Cup winner and Under 21 Premier League champion, he’s unlikely to see much game time.
Mitchell Beeney has regularly trained with the Chelsea first team.
The same goes for his fellow youth goalkeeper Jamal Blackman and it will be interesting to see whether he follows Beeney out on loan.
The challenge for Beeney now is to impress sufficiently so he can earn a loan with a Championship club and then show that he can impress higher up.
