Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has confirmed that Luke Shaw is making positive steps on his road to recovery.
The 20-year-old left-back suffered a double leg fracture in September against PSV Eindhoven during the Red Devils’ first Champions League group game of the campaign.
The injury was expected to end the England international’s season and although there is still a long while before United fans will see Shaw on the Old Trafford turf again, Van Gaal seems pleased with his progress.
The Dutchman has been forced to use a number of different players in Shaw’s absence and while he will surely want the former Southampton star back amongst his squad as soon as possible, Van Gaal has moved to dampened speculation that he could return earlier than expected.
