Gov. Bello after his inauguration in Lokoja, the Kogi state capital
In a statewide announcement on Monday, the newly-elected Kogi State governor, Yahaya Bello, has suspended all permanent secretaries, directors of finance and directors of accounts in various Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) in the state.
According to some sources in the state, the governor’s decision was aimed at "removing dead woods"considered as stumbling block to ensuring accountability and prudent management of public resources.
It was reported that few days after his inauguration, Gov. Bello ordered the immediate reinstatement of all local government chairmen sacked in the twilight of the administration of immediate-past governor, Idris Wada who removed the 15 local government chairmen in the state for defecting to All Progressives Congress (APC)
