CONSTANTINE-President of the Republic Abdelaziz Bouteflika on Thursday called on in Constantine the Algerian people to close ranks against the threats of "barbaric and devastating" terrorism and remain united against underdevelopment and all pessimistic and defeatist spirits.
"To safeguard our country and our freedom, it behoves us to work for the closing of ranks in the face of threats of barbaric and devastating terrorism that has no borders," said President Bouteflika in a message to the nation on the occasion of the National Day of Mujahid, read on his behalf by Minister of Culture, Azzedine Mihoubi.
"The celebration of the National Day of Mujahid challenges us and all citizens, regardless of their political affiliations and persuasions, to remain united against underdevelopment, in all its forms, and all pessimistic and defeatist spirits, while consolidating hope and self-confidence to positively assess the economic difficulties that arise to the planet today, and to move forward, with the genius of our young scientists, researchers and creators, from the oil era to the era of advanced technology," the Head of State added.
For President Bouteflika, "achieving this goal requires investment in knowledge and intelligence, in renewable energy and alternative resources that our country has to offer in abundance, fortunately."
"While commemorating this day, so dear to the Algerian people, and celebrating its heroes who snatched national independence and sovereignty, we primarily dwell on the symbolism of historical events and highlight the highest human values that stimulate and nourish good will among generations, the pride of belonging to a country of glories," the President supported.
