CONSTANTINE-The President of the Republic underscored Thursday in Constantine Algeria's commitment to the project of building the Arab Maghreb, in faithfulness to the noble values of justice, freedom, unity and common progress that has united us during our struggle against colonialism.
The date of 20 August symbolizes the solidarity of our valiant people with his brothers in the kingdom of Morocco. Besides, I seized this opportunity to underline, on behalf of the Algerian people, Algeria's attachment to the edification of the Arab Maghreb, in faithfulness to the noble values of justice, freedom, unity and common progress that united us in our struggle against colonialism, President Bouteflika said in a message to the nation on the occasion of the National Day of Mujahid, read on his behalf by Minister of Culture Azzedine Mihoubi.
The President recalled that the Algerian people had added its voice to those of Moroccan and Tunisian peoples to "denounce the Protectorate and the occupation forces when the leaders of the Algerian Revolution were preparing an uprising on the Maghreb scale to end colonialism."
"Concomitant facts to the feeling of the peoples of the Arab Maghreb and their path and destiny were closely linked both in prosperity and in adversity", the Head of State argued, adding that "the conditions for a Collective Maghreb revolution were therefore met, writing a new promising page in the history of the African continent and the Arab world."
