Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed of Kwara State is set to declare his intention for re-election under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) today.
Ahmed, who was elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in 2011, defected to APC in October last year alongside his political benefactor and predecessor, Senator Bukola Saraki.

His declaration is coming on the heels of his endorsement for a second term by Senator Saraki and the APC stakeholders.

The governor, it was learnt, would formally declare at the state Metropolitan Square with APC governors and leaders of the party, including its national chairman, Chief John Oyegun, expected to grace the event.

Also expected at the declaration are the four APC presidential hopefuls – former head of state, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd), former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar, Sam Nda-Isaiah and Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso of Kano state.
