FC Schalke’s director of sport Horst Heldt says the German
club are not interested in signing Chelsea’s Andre Schurrle or Arsenal’s
Lukas Podolski in the winter transfer window.
Both German World Cup winners were reportedly in line for a return to
the Bundesliga in January, as they’ve played second-fiddle roles at
their respective clubs of late.
Heldt tells Bild magazine: “We’re not considering Schurrle at all. And the same goes for Xherdan Shaqiri and Lukas Podolski.”
He added that the club and new coach Roberto Di Matteo’s are “at the moment not determined whether we change the squad in the winter.”
Schalke are- though- not short of attacking options in the middle of the park, with the German duo of Max Meyer and Leroy Sane available for selection in the absence of Julian Draxler, while Sidney Sam could also play as an attacking midfielder.
