Governor Aminu Masari of Katsina State
President Muhammadu Buhari has been urged to call, Governor Aminu Masari of Katsina State, over his deliberate attempt to blackmail, denigrate and vilify the immediate past governor of the state, Dr. Ibrahim Shehu Shema and his aides.
Shema, in a ‘Save Our Soul’ (SOS) letter written to President Buhari through his lawyer, Chief Wole Olanipekun SAN, alleged that barely a month after he graciously bowed out as the Governor of Katsina State, after a sterling and acclaimed tenure, his successor, Governor Masari, started a campaign of calumny against him in a bid to decimate his towering image and reverse the progress attained under his leadership.
The former governor said it is common knowledge that he served the state meritoriously from May 29, 2007 to May 29, 2015, adding that the state under his leadership witnessed tremendous improvements in diverse areas, including but not limited to transportation, education, health, infrastructural development, timely payment of salaries of workers, their gratuities and pensions.
According to Shema, he was commended, not only for the good and qualitative leadership he provided, but also for his carriage, discipline, maturity and integrity.
“It is on record that despite the fact that Mr. President and our client did/do not belong to the same political party, Mr. President, on several occasions, commended his humble efforts at delivering the dividends of democracy to the people of Katsina State. We will come to this,” Shema stated.
He said rather than being appreciated or minimally commended, it is unfortunate that the present administration in Katsina State, under the leadership of Masari, chose to denigrate, vilify, blackmail and persecute him and his erstwhile aides, through multiple means and methods, all of which are aimed at crucifying him at all cost.
“Simply put, Mr. President, the Governor Aminu Bello Masari administration’s approach to our client is tantamount to “calling a dog a bad name” so that the hangman can send it to the gallows!
“With this background, Mr. President, we now proceed to some specifics, as instructed by our client, that is:
“That subsequent to the April 11, 2015, Katsina State governorship election and prior to the May 29, 2015 inauguration of Hon. Aminu Bello Masari as the Governor of Katsina State, our client had constituted and inaugurated a 15-man transition committee. The said committee gave and submitted a detailed report of the financial position of the state government to the incoming administration.

A similar transition committee was also set up by the newly inaugurated government, under the leadership of Mr. Mustapha Mohammed Inuwa, the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Katsina State, who has always been, and who still remains a fanatical and unrelenting critic of our client and his administration.
