ALGIERS- Four former diplomats, who had been Algeria's representatives at the United Nations, was honoured Thursday at a ceremony marking the Algerian Diplomacy Day, at Foreign Affairs ministry's headquarters.
Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Ramtane Lamamra, along with former chief of Government Reda Malek, paid a glowing tribute to those former diplomats.
The diplomats are Toufik Bouatoura, Abdelkader Chanderli, Abdelatif Rahal and M'Hamed Yazid.
The qualities of the four men have been emphasized, before their family members received honorary gifts.
Algerian Diplomacy Day is celebrated every year on October 8.
The event coincides with the day where independent Algeria's first president, Ahmed Ben Bella, raised the Algerian flag at the United Nations headquarters, in New York, on 8 October 1962.
